Teaching

From primary school to university, I’ve been fortunate to have met and known many great teachers and mentors. They are authentic, generous and empathetic, with admirable work ethic and genuine love for their work. These people have profoundly influenced me and ignited my passion for teaching and outreach.

Over the past six years, I have participated in numerous teaching and outreach activities. I enjoy sharing my passion for Information Theory, probability and statistics with younger students. I enjoy simplifying complex topics in an accessible yet rigorous manner to help my students build intuition. Through this process, I often discover new insights. I hope to make helping and inspiring younger students a recurring theme of my career.

Selected teaching & outreach experience:

  • Teaching assistant (supervisor) for third-year undergraduate courses 3F7 Information Theory & Coding and 3F4 Data Transmission. 3F7 focuses on probability theory, Shannon’s theory on data compression and channel coding. 3F4 covers digital communication including modulation and demodulation, performance analysis (e.g., probability of detection error and bandwidth efficiency), and network algorithms.
  • Co-supervise master projects on statistical learning and communications
  • Demonstrator for 3F4 Data Transmission laboratory
  • Teaching assistant for Electronic & Information Engineering Track at Cambridge AI+ Programme 2022 and 2023
  • Project lead at the 2019 Micro Distance International Youth Forum
  • Volunteer at Cambridge Hands-On Science (CHaOS)
  • STIMULUS volunteer for A level maths
